Turmoil in the shadows.
Derek grinned eerily. The shadows were a fun place to be. It was there the canvases of the world were to be found, and there no one would stop him from practicing his art - or at least, no one would try. No one could stop him, anyways, but it was easier without distractions.
Besides, here was where he would find the reflection of light warring with the darkness. So, he was working his art in an alleyway in this new town - too blank, too bland - to pass the time. It wouldn't be much longer.

The thrill was in the chase, not the catch.
So they said, anyways.
But they never said who the thrill was for. Dark found that the thrill was much more in the chase when he was the one being chased. That said, purely on the fact that he had not yet been caught yet, he was ecstatic.
So Dark Link ran down the alleyway, screaming his head off and waving his hands above his head, being chased by a single soldier.
After all, the thrill was in the chase.

Derek heard the screaming coming from quite some distance away - it was hard not to - and drew his hoodie tight around himself as they got close. He backed against the wall, kept his head down, and faded into his surroundings effortlessly. Shortly thereafter, two figures came running through the alley. The first appeared as a man made of mirrors, all tarnished. There was a faint hint of forest green every now and then, but it always disappeared soon afterwards.
The second was one of the figures that he had seen many of, before - all inky blackness and oozing thick night into the air. Quite frankly, they were kind of boring, and easily confused. He usually didn't even have to try very hard to throw them off. They put too much faith in what they saw. Silly silly darkness, thinking only they can hide the truth.
Still, the first figure was the one he was looking for, so it was time for the Grand Artiste to take an interest. He would wait until they passed, and then follow after himself - that would be simplest.

And Dark Link Ran On...
Shortly thereafter, the Soldier got tired and despawned. Dark turned around and watched it do it's little flip into the dark pathways.
He spotted a strange hooded figure. Was he here to participate as well? Why waste time wondering? Dark took off running again.

((Huh. I suppose I should make it more clear in the future when he uses the magic in his hoodie. Ah well, no big deal. It had probably worn off by the time Dark Link looked back, anyways. ^^ ))
It seemed the darkness was bored with chasing its own tail, and the blot of ink on an empty canvas faded into the surrounding night. He doubted it would have actually caused much trouble to the tarnished mirror-man, being a single, solitary figure in the night. Not long after, the remaining figure looked back and spotted him, then turned and ran again. Hehehe, silly mirror; try as you might, but you cannot show yourself.
Time to catch up. A simple illusion would suffice. He appeared in front of the mirror, taking in his reflection; or rather, the reflection of something. It wasn't his, though; something else wandered in and out of view. Curiouser and curiouser, as some would say.
In reality - if you could call anything reality around Derek - he still stood at the far end of the alleyway from the other figure, veiled. An illusion of himself was what currently waited in front of the running figure, staring him down.
((I hope the post is clear! Don't be afraid to PM me for clarifications. It can be kind of difficult to get straight thoughts out of Derek's mind, I'm afraid.))

"Gah! Damn Teleporters!"
Dark swiveled on one foot and ran back the other way, knowing full well that it would not matter to a teleporter. He expected to run into him again. Because of the innate flair for the dramatic the world had, he would most likely appear at the entrance to the alleyway that Dark had just come from.
((That's ok, it's hard to get a long post out of Dark.))
