Oh, yes, very much so. The mushroom Kingdom is right now the only Nintendo world, but...
You know what, check the plot area. I'll be listing new stuff, and I'll answer your question there.

You cannot have two canon characters that would be able to interact with each other, and you cannot have more than one major character.

The first major difference are that the major characters will not die. Major characters are called major because their actions will majorly affect the storyline. Their choices are more important than the choices of the minor characters.

The Dark Overlord wishes for no competion, but I will eventually be bringing Org. XIII back. However, there will be no Dark XII kind of deal. The Dark Overlord is the Big Bad Heartless, no one else. EDIT: I have judged that since Hearts cannot be destroyed, Ansem the Seeker of Darkness is not dead, he is still recovering from the smackdown that Sora laid on him. He will be back.

(this is a good question to use to explain the current General Shape the worlds are in.) Mobius wasn't destroyed. Mobius is my Sega world. Maybe you could have Anti-Mobius blow up.
And, regarding the Heartless, no, there are no Heartless in any of the Non KH worlds, at least not right now. The Dark Overlord has yet to make his plans generally known.

I copied WD's character ap because I don't think we need anything more. It has everything pretty much covered, though I will be making it more in depth for customs.

Accepted means of off-world travel include: Your character can use Chaos Control (can only travel to worlds previously visited) Your character has a space ship. If your character is friends with Tails, you can ask him to build a ship or teleporter for you. It will cost you big Munny though. Your character has a form of teleportation, or a machine that allows teleportation (can only travel to worlds previously visited) Your character can access Dark Portals (limited to heartless and truly evil characters in the KH realm, or those who have been taught to use them. Also, if an Evil character stops being evil, they still have access to the Dark portals.) And of course, your character is in possession of a Gummi Ship. The Big Bad Three (my term) of Bowser, Eggman, and Dr. Wiley use a teleporter bay in Space Station Armageddon to travel to other worlds. This teleporter uses gummi pads (save areas).
Gonna add this to THE RULES...

Hey, I got's a question.
Is it alright if I have my character find small items of power, somewhat akin to the Zelda games where Link finds random treasures/tools that turn out to be very useful someway?
If yes, do I have to OK them with the you guys? Now or when I am about find them?

Well, if it was Zelda's world, it would be alright, I'm guessing. But Hyrule is gone, destroyed by the darkness. Though, you are in a different world, so I'm going to say "no" until Xahnel gets back. When he gets back, ask him again.

What about items that are not Hyrulein in origin?
Like some sort of instrument. Not even one of Legends, just a normal instrument to learn songs like what Link does.

You could buy them. People don't leave instruments on the street, just sayin. Yeah, you would have to buy them.

Of course, I would not expect it any other way.
Only the good stuff is left lying around surrounded by fire in the depths of a dungeon.
But a second hand shop is fine for finding a normal instrument.

-Explodes into being- GRAAAAHHH!!!
...
Okay, so that was a little overboard.
Anyways, regarding Hyrule toys, I would say that the more powerful the object, the higher the likelyhood that it survived. Submit a wish list via PM, and I'll drop a few things here or there in the threads. I'm not guaranteeing you'll get a hold of what i drop out, but I'll give you the chance.
